While out running errands today
I was seated at a bench while waiting for the red truck. Two French guys walked by with two Thai girls. The girls were smoking hot. I think they were bar girls or whisky girls as someone here put it. The French guys stunk to high heaven. It was gross. I found their stink offensive. Maybe the girls like it? One of them got into a tiff with his girl. They were struggling to communicate and she was all the sudden pissed off. I could not figure them out but they were putting off a very provokative vibe. It was interesting people watching.
A red truck stopped, I confirmed he was going my way then climbed in and found an American seated there. English. Nice. We had a nice little chat as we drove through town. He was heading down Bangkok way with his backpack stuffed to the gills. That damn thing looked heavy. My back hurt looking it. While cruising through the city we were discussing the finer points of life in Chiang Mai and Thailand in general. Cheap to live here. Food is great. Wi-Fi. Good health care and the girls are so damn beautiful.
On the topic of girls I asked him:
"Have you ever fallen in love with a girl and stayed up late into the night, night after night talking. Talking about anything and everything. Talking because you just fell in love and now you wanted to know everything about each other"
He shook his head indicating he was agreeing but not happy about agreeing. This part of the question was strictly rhetorical. There was a short pause and I continued on with my question.
"I don't think you will find a relationship like that here in Chiang Mai"
In hindsight it really was more of a question than a statement.
His response shocked me:
"For that reason alone it's worth staying here"
Wow. A little repressed anger there fella? What does that mean? What was that supposed to mean? I don't get that. I got the impression every time this guy has sex it was like a grudge-fuck with an ex-girlfriend. Someone you wanted to fuck but then hated yourself afterwords. ---- Well, to each his own.
The conversation continued:
He looked like a college student so I asked if he was in school. No, but he'd just taken a class on home building out of all earth materials. I told him that was a great class to have under your belt after Armageddon. He smiled and said ya, that's why I took it.
This kid seemed angry. I wonder why?
