January 24th

I need to go to the US Consulate. I'm in need of documentation, proof of income. Part of the Visa process. This is the procedure, go online and schedule your appointment. You can't just show up and expect anything good to happen or so I'm told. In a foreign land I recommend you play by the rules. Go online, make your appointment then print out the appointment and bring it with you. The consulate is closed from noon til 1:00pm so don't show up during that time slot. You will not get in.

I was scheduled for 1:45pm and got there at 1:00pm (early). Early bird gets the worm. I stand in line with four other Americans and we have a nice chat. How good it is to hear English spoken by Americans. It's like music to my ears. I miss America. God bless America.

They do things in a very orderly fashion at the Consulate. Though I'm early I get in early. It costs $50 to get any paperwork processed so bring cash, $50 US or 1,500 baht.

I was in and out of the Consulate in ten, maybe fifteen minutes tops and they were so gosh darn nice I could have hugged them all.

God bless America...
